My computer gave me a message that Windows 10 has reached end of service and MUST be upgraded to next version. We can’t afford to be down for days right now!!!! This is software specific to running a dairy business and we don’t have a team of highly specialized IT people that can fix it. When I found the setting to delay it for 30 days it said that after 30 days, there would be no choice but to update it I’ve been trying to find out how to stop it with no luck!
Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback. The message was definitely genuine. It was ready to start upgrading my windows version. There are plenty of other people in this community forum that have had it come up also, although with them it seems it was just a suggestion versus a forced update, but their posts were also from way earlier in the year. It would not keep popping up since I have delayed it for 30 days, it will come up at the end of the 30 day mark and I will not be able to use the computer until I upgrade.
For the purposes of getting me the help I need, please assume it was a genuine message. I am absolutely positive it was. It wasn’t a simple pop up, it was the whole screen going into Windows update mode like it does when it says “Windows is preparing to update your computer”, and then came up with that, and I had an option there to reschedule it for like up to 7 days. I found instructions online on how to do the 30 days. So I definitely need help on what to do when it comes up at that 30 day mark or we are in deep trouble here at the dairy.
I can’t be left with no options when it comes up after the 30 days and says I can’t use the computer anymore until its upgraded. Since the upgrade requires a working PC, you will not be locked out.
You might have to allow the upgrade to go through before resuming your normal work. Under Windows 10 it is notoriously hard to prevent updates from going through. I can see two options for you:. If the warning is genuine then it will keep appearing. Thanks so much. In reply to Frederik Long’s post on August 27, Thats the actual problem. I don’t want to allow it to upgrade. All Windows 10 editions are available when you select Windows 10, except for Enterprise edition. Resolution: This issue was resolved in KB Reminder As of May 11, , the Home and Pro editions of Windows 10, version have reached end of servicing.
Devices running these editions will no longer receive monthly security or quality updates and will need to update to a later version of Windows 10 to resolve this issue. After installing KB or later updates, apps accessing event logs on remote devices might be unable to connect. This issue might occur if the local or remote has not yet installed updates released June 8, or later.
You might receive an error when attempting to connect, for example:. Note Event Viewer and other apps using current non-legacy APIs to access event logs should not be affected.
This issue is resolved if the local and remote devices both have KB installed. After installing KB and restarting your device, you might be unable to sign into some Microsoft desktop client apps such as Microsoft Teams, OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Outlook. You might also receive an error or “We ran into a problem. Reconnecting…” when attempting to authenticate or sign into Teams. Note Mobile, web and non-Windows versions are not impacted.
Workaround: To mitigate this issue on most devices, you can restart your device a second time. Most devices will sign into affected apps as expected for all subsequent restarts after the first restart that completes installation of the update.
