Please try again later. Experienced user of many different versions of Office, both for PC and Mac, and their so-called “connected services” and “experiences” that involve their OneDrive.
I wanted nothing to do with OneDrive, or their annual subscription, so I waited for this release. Very disappointed, but not surprised, to see Microsoft default configured the Office installation to use OneDrive even though I did a custom install and unselected OneDrive.
Unselecting all 3 caused the app the hang. Upon forcing the app down, starting, it hung again. Force the app down and restart. Force to re-enter my credentials. Alas, it finally appears I have Word without it being connected to OneDrive and remains “activated”.
I miss the days of entering long product keys to activate software. Update: I was experiencing repeated problems with the Office apps either hanging at launch or forgetting their activation every single time I quit the app. Other Office users have reported similar experiences online.
In my case, I had the license and had tried out the version as well recently. After running that tool and reactivating a single Office app, the suite started to remember my activation after I quit the apps.
It is a convoluted situation that led to this purchase. When I installed I was then prompted to activate it by activating one of the programs in it.
I had been warned about and did not want it. Because I tried and failed to activate Excel, it along with Word and Power Point were blocked with a circle with a slash.
One thing that is really annoying is the changes made to the tints of the colors used to highlight. I maintain several databases in Excel and now I have different shades of green in cells.
None of the new shades of green match the old one. I have a choice of either accepting multiple tints in my spreadsheets, with some from and some from , or going back and changing the tints, cell by cell, from the version to the version.

I cannot activate via phone. You may click on Next after entering the ID to complete the activation. You install a copy of Office and activate it. You assume the activation worked because there is no message saying it did not … BUT, when you try to use an application you get a warning that it must be activated.
This error can be caused when you already have a not activated copy of Office installed. The problem is, when you try to activate the copy you installed, Windows gets confused and submits the Product Key to the version that was installed first, ie the free trial.
Unfortunately when this happens there is no error message to indicate there was an activation problem. Can’t find Microsoft Office in your list to uninstall? This may be enough to fix the activation problem.

Not enough pictures. Any additional feedback? Submit feedback. OLD backup folder. Then you can install on Win You can use any of the following tools to extract the Product Key from you computer. These tools report on many installed programs on your computer, not just Office.
The underlying mechanics of Windows 8 are essentially the same as Windows 7 if you ignore the Metro User Interface. The pig is not changed by adding a little paint on the surface. NOTE: these tools no longer work for Office and after MS “improved” the way the key is stored on your computer.
Normally you have several resources to find your Retail Product Key. O Your original package or purchase confirmation e-mail. DAT if you did an in-place Windows Upgrade. OLD folder to be there until you delete it. After you extract the Product Key, make sure to write it down and keep it in a safe place. Only the factory can use the PK from the original factory activation. You would have been provided with a separate piece of paper with a Product key for reactivation.
Office ProduKey may be able to extract product key information from a file saved externally. Now from here you may have to browse to a slightly different location depending on where your windows. I hope this helps someone else too! Printing the report, or saving it is probably a good idea.
