New laptop does not have firewire port. Thanks for your response. If your camcorder has firewire then your computer needs firewire. This can be added to a pc but not to a laptop. If you record to tape then almost certain that firewire needed.

I get message that “Location is not available” I have not received that message before. I did format both the D and E drive prior to receiving that message.
